As some of you may know, my mother is about to have her final chemo treatment in a couple of days. For those who don't know, she was diagnosed with a triple negative tumor right before Thanksgiving 2008. She went through radiation treatment in December and will be done with chemotherapy soon. And if everything continues on schedule, she'll get her chemo port taken out and a final clean bill of health on May 13th. She's not the first person in our family to have breast cancer, my maternal grandmother and my mother's older sister are both breast cancer survivors. In honor of these women, and the one-in-eight that will be stricken with breast cancer, my little sister has organized a team to raise funds and run in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Richmond 5K. I've never run anything more than that mile we had to do in high school, so this will be a challenge. I've started running two miles every other night, to increase to every night, and longer distances, as the race approaches. The least you can do is donate a little money! Help out a good cause, so future generations don't have to go through what my mother did.
Make a donation and support breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment!
