It's been an up-and-down weekend. I wasted hours Friday and today trying to get a QTVR done of the lab at work. A QTVR is an interactive movie of a place, where you can pan around, click on objects, etc. First I had a camera break (stuck zoom lever), problems with the metal casing of the replacement camera reflecting in the mirror, and then the software refusing to blend the pictures correctly no matter what settings I used. I eventually gave up and took a picture of the placard in the hallway at a hard angle and did a little vignette to make it stand out. All this was in an effort to make a new header for the website at work. Here's the image I came up with, not bad for a last minute idea and execution. All this was is part of an effort by me to do a total rework of my work's website, http://www.nmc.vt.edu. Too long has it been drab and chock full of outdated information. Good news is I got the back end stuff all up and running Friday, I even compiled my first installer from source code (+1 nerd points for me). I've switched it to an open source content management system, the same CMS I've been using to run this website for over a year now. I'm a fan of open source, it's sad some people aren't.
My boss Shannon is leaving this week, she has accepted a position at CNU. Her farewell lunch is tomorrow. I'm not sure what will happen to her position now that she's gone, I know I don't want it. I'm not a suit kinda guy.
I watched the movie "Hot Rod" Saturday, and I'd like those two hours of my life back. Don't waste your time if you haven't already.
I washed the truck today, then it rained. I even checked the weather beforehand, to make sure this didn't happen... but it did anyway.
And the picture? Just a funny/sad picture, an escalator to the gym? Really?
