So you want to know more...
Chances are if you're here you already know me, but for those who don't here goes. Where to begin... My name is James Dustin. I was born and raised in eastern Virginia, in a tiny little place called Elevon. The closest anything was a 20 minute drive away, the small town of Tappahannock. I do give a lot of credit to my small-town country upbringing, because I turned out great! In high school I had great grades, was a member of almost every club, and had a bright future. Then I went to college.
In 1995 I moved to Blacksburg to start my college career at Virginia Tech, majoring in Crop and Soil Environmental Science. In 1996 I took on a part-time job working at a computer lab called the New Media Center. It was a great job, in fact, too great. It got me interested in computers and I grew to like IT and multimedia work more than my major. So here I am, ten years later, and I work full-time at the New Media Center as the Operations Coordinator, keeping everything running smooth and teaching classes for faculty on digital video editing and DVD creation.
In my spare time I volunteer with both the Blacksburg Fire Dept and Rescue Squad. I four years as a lieutenant for the fire dept. About two years ago I purchased a used motorcycle and now ride it any day I wake up and it looks warm outside. My small amount of free time is spent on building projects, I like working with my hands. I also try to be outdoorsy: going hiking, canoeing, caving, and skydiving.
That’s all I can think of (actually, it’s more like all I care to type at this moment). If I left anything out feel free to ask, fireman (AT) vt (DOT) edu.
